How RM24 rates
All assessments on this page come from the same editorial decision matrix as the place finder. They are a guide for choosing a place – not an objective rating of the places.

Which quiet Mallorca resort is by the sea?
By the sea and still relaxed: above all Colònia de Sant Jordi, Port de Pollença, Port de Sóller, Peguera and Cala d’Or. All five have a beach or coves right in town, plus restaurants, shops and errands you can do on foot.
The season still matters: in the summer months, even a quiet resort is busier than in spring or autumn.
Where is Mallorca at its quietest?
The very quietest corners are not the classic resorts, but the centre of the island, the mountain villages of the Serra de Tramuntana and very small coastal places – usually with a hire car and a finca feel. This page deliberately covers the level below: quiet resorts with infrastructure.
Where is Mallorca quiet, but with restaurants?
That is exactly the strength of Port de Sóller, Cala d’Or, Port de Pollença and Santanyí: there is a visible restaurant scene without the place being geared towards nightlife. If you like eating outside in the evening and then going for a walk, you will find the right mix here.
Which quiet place also has a beautiful beach?
-
Port de Pollença
Wide, gently shelving bay with a promenade.
-
Colònia de Sant Jordi
Beach areas in the south with plenty of space.
-
Peguera
Several sandy beaches in the middle of town.
-
Cala d’Or
Small coves instead of a long sandy beach.
Where can you have a quiet holiday and still go for an evening stroll?
An evening stroll needs a promenade or a lively town centre. Port de Pollença, Port de Sóller and Peguera offer exactly that: lit seafront paths, open restaurants and short walks back to the hotel – without party crowds.
Which quiet places work without a hire car?
Peguera and Port de Sóller are the easiest quiet places without a car. Port de Pollença and Colònia de Sant Jordi also work well within the town, but a car is more helpful there for excursions.
Where is it quiet and romantic for couples?
Port d’Andratx, Port de Sóller and Colònia de Sant Jordi combine peace with a harbour or coastal atmosphere – a good base for a relaxed holiday for two.
Which quiet Mallorca places are suitable for families?
For families who want peace, Port de Pollença, Colònia de Sant Jordi, Peguera and Can Picafort are a good fit: the beach and everyday infrastructure are close together and evenings stay relaxed. Very quiet mountain villages, on the other hand, are often less practical with small children.
What is the difference between quiet and remote?
This distinction matters more when choosing a place than the word ‘quiet’ itself: a lot of disappointment arises when a remote hotel is booked although a quiet place was what you had in mind.
-
Quiet
Relaxed atmosphere, but restaurants, a supermarket, a pharmacy and the beach are there and within reach.
-
Remote
Little going on, but longer distances – you often need a car for shopping, eating out or seeing a doctor.
Which places should you avoid if absolute peace is important?
If you want absolute peace, particularly lively areas of Playa de Palma, Magaluf or Cala Ratjada may be less suitable. These places have their strengths – for families with teenagers or for lively evenings – but cater for a different type of holiday.
For maximum peace and quiet
Even quieter – but without the classic beach-resort character: no town beach, swimming only by car or train, but scenery and townscape instead.
When a quiet place is less suitable
Less suitable if …
A quiet place is less suitable if you expect plenty of choice, entertainment or a wide range of leisure activities in the evening – especially with teenagers, that can quickly be too little.
And if you want to head for different destinations every day without a car, very quiet places will limit you.
