Character of the beach
Formentor is one of the few beaches in Mallorca with real tree shade directly behind the sand – a practical advantage in high summer. In high season access to the peninsula for private cars is restricted during the day (to the beach car park only while spaces are free); otherwise you get there by shuttle bus from Port de Pollença or by excursion boat. The current rules change seasonally and should be checked before you travel. TIB bus line 334 Alcúdia–Formentor runs seasonally alongside the restriction (2026: 15 May to 18 October).
