Handmade in Mallorca: shoes, fashion, fabrics, jewellery and baskets

Last checked: October 2026

If you want to buy something that was genuinely made on the island, you need to know where the workshops are. Here are all our pages on handmade products – and what the new "Moda Artesana de Mallorca" label means.

Quick answer

How can I tell whether something is handmade in Mallorca?

The safest way is to buy directly from the workshop. Since 2026 the island council's "Moda Artesana de Mallorca" label also helps: it is only given to businesses that carry out at least 75% of design and production on the island, make the goods themselves and have a workshop or shop you can visit. The main areas are Inca and its surroundings, Palma, Pollença and the north-east.

FAQ

Questions about handmade goods from Mallorca

What is "Moda Artesana de Mallorca"?

A label from the island council for fashion crafts from the island. It was presented at ITB Berlin in March 2026 and covers textiles and clothing, jewellery, plant fibres, leather and footwear.

What are the conditions for the label?

Businesses need a craft card from the island council, must carry out at least 75% of the process including design in Mallorca, make most of the goods themselves and have a workshop or shop that people can visit.

What is the most typical handmade souvenir?

Classics are Roba de llengües fabrics, palm-woven baskets and jewellery with botons or Santa Llúcia eyes. The pearls from Manacor are typical too, but man-made.

Is a shopping trip to Inca worth it?

Yes, if you are looking for shoes or leather bags: several workshops and factory shops are close together in Inca, and Lloseta with Teixits Riera is a few minutes away.
