Fjord-like rocky cove with crystal-clear, bright turquoise water between steep rock walls.

The strip of sand is only a few metres wide – from late morning it is usually full.

Quick answer

Why Caló des Moro?

One of the most spectacular and most photographed natural postcard views on the whole island.

Who is it for?

  • Photographers
  • Snorkellers
  • Young holidaymakers

Less suitable for

  • Families with lots of luggage
  • Those seeking peace and quiet in peak season

Character of the beach

The cove looks spectacular in photos and is tiny in reality: the strip of sand is only a few metres wide and in peak season it is practically full from late morning. Access leads from the car park through a residential area, then along an unsurfaced track, down a steep flight of steps and over rocks for the last few metres – there is no handrail, and it is much easier in sturdy shoes than in flip-flops. Pushchairs, wheelchairs and lots of beach gear make no sense here. There are no facilities: no restaurant, no showers, no toilets, no lifeguard, no sunloungers. Everything has to be carried down and back up again, including your rubbish. The municipality of Santanyí and local residents have been pointing out for years that the crowds are overwhelming the area; there have been repeated discussions about access restrictions, parking bans in the residential area and possible parking charges. For 2026 there is no sufficiently reliable official information on new rules (as of 2026). If you still want to go, arrive before 9 am or after 5 pm, follow the current signs on site, park only in clearly permitted areas and keep the noise down in the residential area. If you want the same colours with more space, you are better off at Cala Llombards or Cala Mondragó.

Frequently asked questions about Caló des Moro

How do you get to Caló des Moro?

Drive to Cala Llombards/Santanyí and then into a residential area above the cove; from there an unsurfaced track, a steep flight of steps and a short rocky stretch lead down. In total it is a 10- to 15-minute walk. There is no bus service. The exact route is signposted on site and may change (as of 2026).

Where can you park at Caló des Moro?

Parking is limited and regulated on site. In the past there have been repeated discussions about parking bans in the residential area and possible charges or access restrictions – for 2026 there is no sufficiently reliable official information. We recommend following the current signs when you arrive and coming early (before 9 am) if you want any chance of finding a legal space.

Is Caló des Moro suitable for children?

Only to a limited extent. The descent via the steps and rocks is steep, there is no lifeguard and hardly any space. With small children, Cala Llombards or Platja de Muro are much better choices.

Why are people advised to avoid Caló des Moro?

Social media has made the cove massively overcrowded. The municipality and local residents criticise the parking chaos, noise and litter; access restrictions are discussed again and again. If you go, come outside peak times, leave no rubbish behind and respect the residents.

Are there toilets or a restaurant?

No. There are no facilities at all – no restaurant, no showers, no toilets and no sunloungers. Bring your own water and shade.

Are dogs allowed? Is there nudism?

Dogs: no. Nudism: no.

Is there shade?

Shade: natural shade.
