Flights to Mallorca
One destination airport, many departure airports – the price depends mainly on the date and day of the week.
Almost all flights to Mallorca land at Palma Airport (PMI).
The short answer
How much does a flight to Mallorca cost and how long does it take?
All scheduled and charter flights to Mallorca land at Palma Airport (PMI). The pure flight time from Germany, depending on the departure airport, is between approx. 1:55 and 2:55 hours. The price varies more according to travel date, day of the week and baggage option than according to airline – which is why it pays to compare across flexible date windows.

What really moves the flight price
There is no permanently cheapest date – but there are levers with a noticeable effect.
-
Travel date
Prices are highest between the last week of June and the end of August. If you fly a week before or after the school holidays, you regularly pay considerably less.
-
Prices change dynamically
Flight prices follow demand and occupancy and can fluctuate considerably within a few days. A price you have seen once is no guarantee for tomorrow.
-
Baggage
The base fare often only includes one small item of hand luggage. Checked baggage and seat reservations can almost double the price.
-
Departure airport
A different departure airport within a radius of 150 kilometres often changes the price more than a different travel date.
-
Flexible travel days
If you can move your outbound and return days by one or two days, you will often see considerably cheaper combinations.
-
Off-peak times
Very early or late departures are often cheaper than connections in the middle of the day – at the cost of an early start or late arrival.
Which day of the week is cheapest for flights to Mallorca?
There is no permanently cheapest day of the week for flights to Mallorca.
The often-quoted rule that a particular day of the week is always cheapest is not accurate. What matters is the departure day in combination with the holiday calendars, current demand on the route, the time of day of the flight and how full the aircraft is. If you really want to save, compare several outbound and return combinations instead of fixing on one day of the week.
How far in advance should you book flights to Mallorca?
There is no guaranteed ideal time window – the time of travel makes the difference.
-
Summer holidays
Demand is highest during the summer holidays. If your dates are fixed, you should book as early as possible rather than waiting for prices to fall.
-
Whitsun and Easter
Prices and occupancy also rise noticeably around the spring holidays – booking early is usually the safer strategy here.
-
Off-season
In spring, autumn and winter there remains more choice until shortly before departure. Flexible travellers often find good prices here even at short notice.
-
Spontaneous trips
Last-minute bookings can be cheap outside the holidays, but are not a guaranteed money-saving tip – in high season the opposite is more often the case.
Direct flight or connection?
For Mallorca, a direct flight is the more sensible choice in almost all cases.
Mallorca can be reached directly from numerous German-speaking airports, so a connecting flight is rarely worth it. Direct flights considerably shorten the overall journey time, avoid the risk of missed connections and are the more relaxed option, especially for families and short trips. A connection only comes into question if there is no direct service from your own departure airport.
What do you need to know about baggage?
Baggage rules depend on the fare you book – not on the route.
-
Hand luggage depends on the fare
The size, weight and number of hand luggage items vary considerably depending on the airline and fare class.
-
Checked baggage not always included
Budget base fares in particular often only include hand luggage; a suitcase has to be booked separately.
-
Check sports equipment separately
Bikes, golf bags or surfboards must be registered and usually cost extra.
-
Pushchairs and family luggage
The rules for pushchairs and child seats vary by airline – check the fare details before booking.
Is the hotel transfer included with a flight to Mallorca?
If you book a flight separately, the hotel transfer is normally not part of the flight booking.
-
Organised transfer
Shuttle or private transfers can be booked separately and take you directly from Palma Airport to your accommodation.
-
Hire car
If you want to explore the island, pick up your hire car directly at the airport – the rental desks are in the terminal area.
-
Taxi
Taxis wait at the terminal exit; the journey time depends on your resort – from a few minutes to around an hour.
-
Public transport
Buses connect the airport with Palma and the larger resorts; in Palma itself you can also get around well without a car at all.
How long is the flight to Mallorca?
Direct flights from Central Europe typically take roughly two to just under three hours.
Depending on the departure airport and flight route, the pure flight time is slightly longer or shorter. The overview of typical flight times per departure airport, the differences between outbound and return flights, the total journey time and the transfer times after landing is on a separate page.
Flight only or package?
A flight on its own is worth it for individually booked accommodation, fincas, holiday flats and tours as well as for short trips to Palma outside the swimming season.
As soon as flight, hotel and transfer belong together and the trip takes place in high season, the package is usually cheaper and better protected legally if something goes wrong.
Which Mallorca resort suits my flight?
A short flight time does not automatically mean a short total journey time.
After landing in Palma, you still have the onward journey to your resort – depending on the region, that is a few minutes or a good hour. If you factor this in alongside the flight time, you can choose departure time and resort to suit each other.
