Who is it for?
- Families
- Snorkellers
- Photographers
Less suitable for
- Late arrivals in summer who have no patience for parking stress
Character of the beach
The cove lies deep between rock walls, so it is usually calm even when it is windy. From the small car park behind the beach the sand is reached on the level; from the upper parking area a flight of steps leads down, which is impractical with a pushchair. In the afternoon, shade moves across the beach from the west side – an advantage over open sandy beaches with no shade.
Beach and water
Surface: fine sand, length approx. 55 m, beach depth approx. 150 m. Getting into the water: gentle entry, calm waves. Typical crowds: very busy in high summer. Best time of day: morning.
Facilities
Food and drink: chiringuito (beach bar). Toilets: seasonal. Showers: seasonal. Sunloungers: available. Changing rooms: none. Shade: parasols. Lifeguards: seasonal.
Getting there and parking
Parking: free car park. Walk of about 1 minute. Parking situation: difficult. There is no bus service. The beach can also be reached from the water.
Families and accessibility
The entry into the water is suitable for families with children. Accessibility: limited (no designated step-free access). Dogs: no. Nudism: no.
Snorkelling and water sports
Snorkelling is worthwhile along the rocky edges. SUP and paddling are possible. Available on site: SUP.
Food and drink on the beach
Directly above the cove there is a simple beach kiosk with drinks and snacks in the summer season, but that is no guarantee that anything will be open. If you want a proper meal, drive the few kilometres to Santanyí or to the neighbouring village of Es Llombards – there you will find cafés, tapas bars and Mallorcan cuisine all year round. So for a full day at the beach, bring water and food with you.
Safety and particular risks
Cove cut deep into the rock. Car park directly in the sandy bed behind it.
Watch out in particular for: the car park suddenly fills up from 10:00 am.

Practical tip
Paths along the rock walls lead to old fishermen's huts with jumping-off spots.
Right next door
Directly next to Cala Llombards lies the small side cove of Caló des Macs; access is a little more awkward, but it is less busy there. Between Cala Llombards and Cala Santanyí, standing in the sea, is the rock arch of Es Pontàs – only to be viewed from above; swimming is not possible there.
