The resort of Playa de Palma with a palm-lined promenade, row of hotels and wide sandy beach on the Bay of Palma

South-west (Palma, Portals, Andratx, Santa Ponça)

Playa de Palma

Playa de Palma is the large resort south-east of Palma: around six kilometres of hotels, divided into the numbered beach sections (“Balnearios” 1 to 15) and spread across the municipalities of Palma and Llucmajor. The western part towards Can Pastilla is quiet and family-oriented, and the party centre is around Balneario 6.

Beach holidays Nightlife Families Without a hire car

Balnearios 1 to 15 divide up the six-kilometre-long resort.

This page describes the resort with its hotels, districts and infrastructure – beach-only information is on the Platja de Palma beach page. The resort borders directly on the airport, and the transfer takes only 10 to 15 minutes. Historically known mainly for the Ballermann nightlife, the western section has developed noticeably towards family holidays in recent years.

On the ground

What makes Playa de Palma special

Balnearios as a grid

The numbered beach sections are the usual way to get your bearings: the lower the number, the closer to Can Pastilla and the quieter it is.

Towards Can Pastilla

Low Balneario numbers from Balneario 1 onwards: quieter, more family-friendly section with a small harbour and shorter distances to the airport.

Around Balneario 6

The actual party centre with bars and a young crowd – if you want peace and quiet, don't book here.

Towards s'Arenal

Lively and densely built up, mixed crowd, many large hotels and a wide range of restaurants.
