Buying art on Mallorca: the best places
If you want to buy a painting or a sculpture on Mallorca, you will find more than holiday souvenirs – from galleries in Palma’s old town to workshops with their own production away from the city.
In brief
Buying art on Mallorca: the best places
The most reliable places to buy genuine art on Mallorca are the established galleries in Palma’s old town, the art villages of Deià, Santanyí and Pollença, and artists who sell directly from their studios. Before you buy, it is important to ask about shipping, transport and proof of authenticity.
Galleries in Palma’s old town
Palma’s old town has the island’s highest density of selling galleries, from international houses to smaller, specialised galleries. Details and addresses are on our dedicated galleries page.
Deià, Santanyí and Pollença: buying art away from the city
Outside Palma, Deià, Santanyí and Pollença in particular have established themselves as small art towns. There, both galleries and individual artists sell directly from their workshops.
Directly from the artist: studios that sell
Some studios in the island’s interior, for example in Sa Pobla, sell works directly from the workshop, usually by appointment. Here, direct contact with the artist replaces the classic gallery.
What to bear in mind when buying art on holiday
Smaller formats can usually be carried in hand luggage without any problems; for larger works, many galleries offer a shipping service. For more valuable pieces, it is worth asking for a certificate of authenticity.
