Artists’ studios on Mallorca: where art is really made
Between the island’s museums lie places where work is still going on – studios, residencies and workshops that you can visit by appointment or on set dates.
In brief
Artists’ studios on Mallorca: where art is really made
On Mallorca you can experience artists’ studios in three ways: on set open-studio dates with free access, by individual appointment or as part of public presentations by residency programmes. Which type of access applies depends on the individual venue and should be checked before you set off.
Open studios: set dates with free access
At CCA Andratx, the attached artists’ studios are not open permanently, only on individual open-studio dates. The centre’s exhibition area is open as normal regardless of this.
We deliberately do not give a specific upcoming date here, as open-studio dates change at short notice – the current announcement is on the CCA Andratx website.
Studios by appointment
Workshops such as the Casa Gran studio in Sa Pobla in the island’s interior are workplaces without fixed opening hours. A visit is possible, but only by prior arrangement.
Artists’ residencies with public presentations
Residency venues such as Casa Planas in Palma open their doors for exhibitions, presentations and programme dates, not as a permanent exhibition. If you want to drop by spontaneously, check the current programme first.
Artists’ village of Deià: studios between home and workshop
In Deià, the boundaries between home, gallery and studio have been blurring since the 1920s. Details and addresses are on our dedicated Deià page.

Frequently asked questions
Questions about artists’ studios
Can you simply drop in at a studio?
That depends on the venue: some allow “walk in”, most residencies require an appointment in advance.
What is the difference between a studio and an open studio?
A studio is an artist’s permanent workplace; an open studio is a time-limited event at which several studios open at the same time.
Is there currently a fixed open-studio date at CCA Andratx?
A previously mentioned date is now in the past; we will only give a new confirmed date once it has been officially announced.
