Bierkönig & Megapark opening: start and end of the Playa season
Two weekends in April decide when the bass starts pumping again at Playa de Palma – and two in October when it stops.
The start of the season at Playa de Palma usually falls on a long weekend in April.
The short answer
What is the Bierkönig & Megapark opening/closing?
The opening weekends of Bierkönig and Megapark mark the start of the season at Playa de Palma. In 2026 they are separate: Bierkönig from 16 to 19 April, Megapark from 23 to 26 April. Entry is usually free on the opening days; VIP areas are chargeable.

Note on dates
The two venues have separate opening dates – this is often confused. The closing dates in October are still to be officially confirmed.
Location: Playa de Palma / S'Arenal, Palma.
What is the opening?
Bierkönig and Megapark are the two largest venues at Playa de Palma. Their opening weekends in April are the unofficial start of the season for the whole Playa: after that, the programme, live acts and night-time opening run continuously until October.
On these days, both venues put on a packed programme with live acts from the German-language party scene. The closing in October follows the same pattern.
Dates 2026
Two separate weekends are confirmed for 2026: Bierkönig opens from 16 to 19 April, Megapark a week later from 23 to 26 April.
So if you want to experience both, you need two trips or a week in between. The frequently quoted claim of “a joint opening at the end of April” is wrong.
Location, getting there and accommodation
Both venues are at Playa de Palma in the S'Arenal area, a few minutes' walk apart. From the airport it is around 15 minutes by taxi, and bus routes also run directly.
Accommodation within walking distance is booked up early on opening weekends and more expensive than in the surrounding area. If you need peace and quiet to sleep, you are better off choosing Can Pastilla or central Palma.
Tips for your visit
- Arrive early – from late afternoon, entry is limited on opening days.
- Take your ID with you – the minimum age is checked.
- Cashless payment is standard, but the network and card readers are slow when it's busy.
- No hire car: driving back after a night of partying is not an option.
Who is it worth it for?
Good for:
- Party holidaymakers and group trips
- Anyone who deliberately wants to catch the start of the season
Less suitable for:
- Guests looking for peace and quiet
- Families with children
- Anyone who wants to get to know the Playa when it's quiet
