Chiringuitos are simple beach bars serving grilled food, usually open from May to October. Main courses cost around 12 to 22 euros. They are rare in protected natural coves but common on the long sandy beaches.
The appeal lies in the simplicity: grilled fish, pa amb oli, a cold drink, sand under your feet.
On beaches in nature reserves there are no permanent places to eat – pack water and food in your rucksack.

- Eat before 13:00 or after 15:00 – in between, everything is full.
- Card payment is not possible everywhere.
- On unspoilt beaches without a chiringuito, bring your own supplies and take your rubbish with you.
