Eating out with children in Mallorca
Spain eats late – but with children, 19:00 works almost everywhere.
Fincas with gardens give children space without disturbing other guests.
In short
Eating out with children in Mallorca
The most family-friendly options are the promenades in Alcúdia and Cala d'Or, as well as cellers and finca restaurants inland. In tourist resorts, kitchens usually open from 19:00 in the evening; high chairs and smaller portions are often available there – but it is best to check on site.
Children are welcome in Spanish restaurants and are allowed to move around. The practical bottleneck is the time: outside the tourist centres, hardly any kitchen is open before 19:00.
Restaurants with space outside – a village square, a promenade, a finca garden – work much better with children than cramped old-town terraces.
Some open all year Some seasonal only
Practical tips
- Eat at 19:00: an empty terrace and the staff’s full attention.
- Ask for a „media ración“ (half portion) rather than expecting a children’s menu.
- Pa amb oli and tortilla almost always go down well, even with fussy eaters.
