Private clinics
Alongside the public hospitals, Mallorca has private clinics that often work with travel health insurers and in some cases offer German-speaking care. Listed without rating or ranking:
- Quirónsalud / Clínica Rotger – international patient care, German-language website available; a 24/7 A&E is stated for Clínica Rotger.
- Juaneda – several clinics on Mallorca (including Juaneda Miramar, Juaneda Muro), German-language website, international patient service: +34 971 222 222
Private clinics do not bill via the EHIC; before treatment, check whether your insurer settles directly with the clinic. Last checked: September 2026
What is “Urgencias”?
Urgencias is the A&E department. In the public hospitals it is staffed around the clock. Patients are treated according to urgency: if you arrive with milder symptoms, you will typically wait longer than someone with acute symptoms. For non-urgent cases, the Centro de Salud is therefore usually the quicker option.
What is a “Centro de Salud”?
The Centro de Salud is the municipality’s public health centre and roughly corresponds to GP primary care. Everyday complaints, infections, minor injuries and repeat prescriptions are treated there. Many centres have fixed consultation hours, and larger towns also have an out-of-hours service.

Frequently asked questions
When should I go to A&E and when should I call 112?
In a life-threatening situation, unconsciousness, breathing difficulties or a serious accident, always call 112 instead of driving yourself. Going to A&E on your own makes sense if the symptoms are acute but not immediately threatening.
Is the EHIC valid in hospitals on Mallorca?
The EHIC generally covers medically necessary treatment in the Spanish public health system under the rules that apply there. Private doctors’ practices and private clinics are not automatically included.
What does Urgencias mean?
Urgencias is the Spanish term for A&E. In the public hospitals it is staffed around the clock; the order of treatment depends on urgency, not on arrival time.
What should I take with me?
Passport or identity card plus the EHIC or proof of travel health insurance. A list of medication and details of allergies and pre-existing conditions are also helpful.
