Porto Cristo
Porto Cristo is a harbour town on Mallorca's east coast, set around a narrow, sheltered bay with a sandy beach and best known as the home of the Coves del Drac stalactite caves.
Families Culture & town Peace and quiet Beach holidays
The Coves del Drac are a few minutes' walk above the bay.
Unlike the purely holiday resorts on the east coast, Porto Cristo has everyday life all year round: the harbour, fishing boats, schools, cafés on the square. The bay cuts deep inland, and the beach lies sheltered at its end. This makes the town suitable for families who want to combine culture and excursions with swimming without staying in a huge hotel complex.

Frequently asked questions about Porto Cristo
Is Porto Cristo worth it as a holiday destination?
Yes, if you are looking for a town with its own everyday life and places to visit. For a pure beach holiday with lots of sand, Cala Millor or the northern bay are better suited.
How do you get to the Coves del Drac?
The Coves del Drac are on the eastern edge of the town and can be reached from the harbour in about ten minutes on foot; buses and excursion tours stop right outside.
Is there a beach in Porto Cristo?
Yes, a small, sheltered sandy beach at the inner end of the bay. It is shallow and family-friendly, but fills up quickly in high summer.
How long is the journey from the airport?
Around 62 kilometres, about 60 minutes' drive.
